LAST weekend saw all teams from the Blackwood United Football Club travel away to different parts of the South West.
In atrocious weather conditions on Saturday, the under 11 side played a 1-1 draw in Harvey.
Kyle Gorman put Blackwood ahead in the first half and some great work in goals by David Larkworthy and Mitchell Knoll along with a good performance by Reece Ralston and the rest of the Blackwood team ensured an exiting game was played out to the end.
The under 6s, 8s and 13s played in Australind where the under 13s lost 6-3 after going 2-0 up early in the game with a man of the match performance by Haydon Knoll.
The under 15 side bounced back from last weekend’s loss to record a 6-2 win against Bunbury Dynamos.
The under 9s played a very entertaining game against Hay Park with good performances by Callum Vane, Henry McInnes and Molly Hawkins.
The senior fixtures on Sunday saw both Blackwood teams lose very close games 2-1.
The women played Dalyellup and should have wrapped the game up in the first half with many great build up plays but could not find the back of the net.
Kathryn Knoll scored the goal for Blackwood.
The Men’s fixture was played at Hay Park in what turned out to be a very evenly matched contest.
There were good goal scoring opportunities at both ends of the field and some fine goal keeping once again by Blackwood’s Ross Mauger kept the away team in the contest.
Newcomers Paul Mooney and Darren Green are proving to be good signings for Blackwood with solid weekly performances.
All the Blackwood Junior teams are back on their home ground next Saturday and the senior men and women are away to Margaret River in the first rounds of the cup competition.
